Hobart William Smith Colleges Location Geneva, NY Open Date Feb 19, 2024 Description Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS) is seeking a talented and dynamic individual with significant experience in systems development and technical leadership to support Peoplesoft application service delivery.
This individual actively supports business systems associated with functional units throughout HWS.
This position is central to planning, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining systems that support the institution’s academic and administrative operations.
This individual partners in Finance, Human Resources, and the Office of Academica Affairs that utilize PeopleSoft and other enterprise-level software solutions to address ongoing business process needs.
They also work with users, vendors, and other IT Services staff to prepare functional and technical requirements for application design and technical solutions.
Essential Responsibilities: Serves as technical lead in a matrixed environment focused on developing and engineering finance human resource, and student-centered technical solutions.
Contributes to the advancement of a shared vision for the overall technical architecture by working with a variety of campus constituents.
Develops and customizes applications and internal/external interfaces, maintenance, troubleshooting, and production support, and develops and writes queries for users.
Facilitates technology architecture, design, and development decisions that align with operational needs and business processes.
Provides technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to HWS staff on enterprise system initiatives.
Reacts to new opportunities for extending enterprise solutions throughout the institution.
Consults with users to determine needs, clarify issues, define problems, develop specifications, and recommend solutions.
Keeps clients updated on project status and attends meetings to discuss opportunities and issues.
Facilitates communication between functional users and technical team members, arranges training, and provides documentation and status reports on progress and problems.
Provides excellent customer service to all user constituent groups.
Stays informed of new technology developments regarding PeopleSoft and other enterprise solutions and recommends how best to respond to these new developments.
Provides input into the annual financial budgeting process.
Strengthen digital literacy skills through education and the application of digital technologies to effectively engage in information gathering, utilization, and data management while promoting a security culture.
Must complete all required federal, state, institutional, and department training.
Engages in a planned program of professional development.
Continually maintains skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry, including best practices, evolving operational requirements, and industry trends.
Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances.
Demonstrate knowledge of the Colleges’ educational philosophy and mission.
Performs other related duties as required.
Other Information: This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position.
This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
Work hours are 8:30 a.
m.
to 5:00 p.
m.
during the academic year, with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours.
Hybrid and remote working arrangements will be considered.
Salary range is $90,000 - $110,000.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of related work experience such as a PeopleSoft Analyst/Developer, Application Developer, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
5 years experience in the implementation of multi-tiered enterprise systems, data architecture, and an overall solutions development methodology.
5 years overall experience in software development and systems architecture.
5 years of demonstrated expertise in written and interpersonal communication skills, including facilitating meetings, writing status reports, developing project plans, and generating documentation.
Experience with PeopleTools core technologies, i.
e.
PeopleCode, Application Designer, Fluid Navigation, Application Engine, Component Interfaces, Workflow, Integration Broker, File Layouts, Change Assistant, and PeopleSoft reporting technologies such as PS Query and SQR).
3 years’ experience in Higher Education setting preferred and supporting student-based technical solutions preferred.
Experience with Campus Solutions in PeopleSoft 9.
0 preferred.
Experience supporting ERP systems other than PeopleSoft will be considered.
Understanding of Customer Relationship Management and Admissions solutions desired Effectively and gracefully manage resources, tasks, and deadlines.
Readily adjusts to change and willing to accept additional responsibilities.
Able to operate independently without close supervision as well as work collaboratively with members of a team.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated time management, organization skills, and close attention to detail.
The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
