*POSITION SUMMARY:*
· The essential functions of the job for the _Cook, _requires, and may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of Viva Senior Living to include, but are not limited to the following:
· Comply with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines, as applicable.
· Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED
· Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, and above all, maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
· In exigent circumstances, the employee may be subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.
g.
, severe weather,
evacuation, temporary staffing shortages, etc.
).
· Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
· Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
· Must maintain the highest standards in caring and servicing the needs of the residents and residents' family members and loves ones.
· Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
*RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES*
· Strong working knowledge of basic cooking methods such as soups, sauces, egg cookery, sauté, grill, sandwich preparation, etc.
· Understanding of kitchen safety, and sanitation
· Must have a developed palate and knowledge of seasoning food in a healthy way
· Strong knife skills and knowledge of knife cuts
· Strong working knowledge of ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, temping, garnishing, and plating design of food
· Must understand time management and ability to share tasks with other food service personnel
· Responsible for not only the main dining room’s food service and preparation, but also meal services and snack time preparations
· Experience using and cleaning standard kitchen equipment such as a deli slicer, griddle, range, convection oven, steam oven, fryer, steam table, hot box, etc.

· Ability to work within systems and procedures set forth by the Food and Beverage Director
· Participate in strong working communication between food service personnel and other departments
· Always follow state and local Department of Health regulations regarding sanitation and safety in kitchen and kitchen outlets
· Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in company and employee handbook
· Interest in interacting and communicating with residents, families, and guests of the community
· Perform other duties as needed
