NEW JOB OPPORTUNITY IN WELLSVILLE! The Wellsville ELC, right next door to the Y Branch, is open! The Teacher will represent the YMCA personally, professionally and in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA.
This position works under the direction of the Early Learning Center Child Care Director.
Essential Job Functions: Represents the YMCA in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.
Upholds the mission and goals of the YMCA by promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Plans and implements classroom curriculum.
Maintains children’s records in compliance with state regulations and YMCA procedures.
Communicates information to families.
Maintains a safe, healthy, warm, engaging, and attractive environment.
Prepares and implements age appropriate activities to provide for developmental growth.
Acts as a role model for children and adults by conducting themselves in a caring, responsible, honest, and respectful manner.
Ensures safety and appropriate behavior in the classroom and the entire Early Learning Center (ELC) and manages transitions smoothly.
Works with the ELC Director in the design of the classroom space and is responsible for making sure that materials are ready for use and put away at the end of the day.
Observes children and performs and writes specific assessment reports that will provide information on the child’s developmental level.
Works closely with the ELC Director to design a curriculum that meets the needs of each child in the classroom.
The Teacher is involved in the planning and implementation of the curriculum.
Responsible for setting up a system for writing daily notes for families that reflect the child’s daily experiences in the program.
Responsible for the supervision and training of the classroom assistants and interns or volunteers.
Assist the ELC Director in evaluating the staff annually.
Know How Must have skills in Working with Families, Conflict Resolution and Public Relations.
Knowledge of group process - must agree to work in harmony with other staff.
Leads with the quality of the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and is a positive healthy role model.
Demonstrates effective leadership and crisis management skills.
Displays excellent organizational skills.
Completes new hire training including Child Abuse Prevention, Blood Borne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment, Workplace Safety upon hire.
Keeps safety of children as a first priority.
Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, families, and other staff at all times.
Uses positive and constructive methods of behavior management and ensures that all staff does the same.
Participates in 20 hours of training per year and 25% must be in the area of children with special needs.
Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Performs chore duties as assigned to maintain the organization and cleanliness of the center.
Contacts the ELC Director with a minimum of 2 hours’ notice of an absence.
Accountable for all children assigned at all times.
Adheres to the YMCA, local, state, and federal rules, regulations and procedures.
This is a full-time, hourly position.
The Center is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.
Applicants must be able to work Monday-Friday during the hours that the center is open.
