Description: This is a Seasonal Position $315/week Responsible for the health, safety, fun, and all other aspects of staff children at camp.
RESPONSIBILITIES: To ensure that designated staff children are properly cared in both physical health and mental health and create a healthy living environment and model healthy living habits; including proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep habits.
Will assist in Day Camp programming when staff children are participating.
To be familiar with the Camp Cory staff manual.
To follow all rules, policies, and procedures proscribed in the staff manual.
To maintain clean cabin area and surrounding area.
To assist in all aspects of assigned Program Area; including ensuring safety of staff’s children, and implementing proper and productive instruction.
Carry out other duties as assigned to assure the overall success of the camp and its programs.
Requirements: LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.
Uses best practices, guidelines, and industry standards as a framework to improve performance.
Demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology associated with the job.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have experience with camp and working with children.
Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer required; certifications must be valid/current before the first day of staff training and throughout the duration of your seasonal employment.
Excellent communication skills.
Person must possess values consistent with the mission of the YMCA.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and transport equipment from one location to another.
Ability to visibly observe children.
Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
Ability to demonstrate and lead activities.
Ability to hear distress signals even when distracted by noise and activity.
Ability to reason, solve problems and make sound decisions even when distracted by noise and activity.
Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme heat and humidity.
Observe and promote safety and security procedures.
